We rely on the generosity, enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteers and currently offer a range of volunteer options: Legal; Internships; Intake/Administration; and Community Development.

Legal Volunteers:
We provide opportunities for students, who are advanced in the completion of their, Bachelor of Laws or undertaking a PLT placement, to volunteer with GCLS. We will ensure to provide you with a valuable and varied range of experience. This will include, supporting and observing the work our lawyers undertake, in Court, Advice and Casework and Legal Education. Your volunteer role will likely include such tasks as, letter writing to clients and assisting our lawyers in research for client matters.

Intake / Administration Volunteers:

These volunteers assist in a number of administration areas including data entry, taking phone calls and helping with special projects.  If you’re someone who likes to help others and have some time to spare, you’re welcome to enquire about volunteering with our service.

Sharon is a joy to have in the office. Supporting GCLS through intake and administrative work, Sharon is organised, efficient and has great empathy for our clients. Sharon brings with her a wealth of skills and experience, including her work as a volunteer at the local courts. Despite facing some challenges over the past year, Sharon is committed to supporting her local community and her dedication as a volunteer is hard to match. We appreciate all of Sharon's hard work and feel extremely lucky that she is part of our team.

Thank you Sharon!

Community Development Volunteers:

Volunteers assist our Community Development Worker to plan, deliver and evaluate events and education sessions. This can be an ideal placement for a student currently studying within the Community Development/Community Services field.

To volunteer with us and gain hands-on Legal, Community Development or Administration experience, please call 1800 004 402 or email for more information.

To apply for any of these positions, please email your current CV and a brief cover letter explaining why you would like to volunteer with GCLS, indicating which position you are interested in.

* Please note:

1. Unfortunately due to the nature of our work, we are unable to accommodate high          school work experience students;

2. All volunteers are required to have a current Police Check and Working With Children Check.  (GCLS can assist with these processes);

3.  Anyone currently volunteering or working for another Anglicare Victoria program is not eligible to volunteer for GCLS due to conflict of interest.
